BULVERDE

A peaceful spot just minutes from San Antonio, Bulverde draws Hill Country buyers seeking a combination of great convenience, beautiful serenity, and down-home charm. It’s no wonder the city is known as the “Front Porch of the Texas Hill Country.”

Location

Bulverde is located in Comal County, just 23 miles north of downtown San Antonio on Cibolo Creek, a tributary of the San Antonio River and a popular Hill Country fishing spot.

History

Bulverde was first inhabited by Native Americans and later by German immigrants—as was much of the Hill Country. Population of the city further increased with the introduction of Interstate 35 and Highway 46, which made travel to the area easier.

Favorite Places

The Tejas Rodeo Company offers special events all year round, including the annual Tejas Rodeo that captivates the Hill Country from September to November. One of the area’s fun family spots is The Farmyard, a non-profit animal sanctuary with an array of animals in the petting zoo and horseback trail rides. Community and neighborhood parks provide scenic spots to unwind or get active, and shopping ranges from big box retail to mom & pop shops.

Schools

Bulverde schoolchildren attend the highly rated schools of the Comal Independent School District (Comal ISD), with 18 elementary schools, five middle schools, four high schools, and a discipline center. The Comal ISD district is rated a Recognized school district and all campuses in the district are fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In addition, 12 schools are rated Exemplary and 10 schools are rated Recognized.
